Lakers icon Magic Johnson drops LeBron James warning that should worry ‘everybody in the NBA’

Magic Johnson thinks the 29 other NBA teams not named Los Angeles Lakers are in danger. After all, they will be facing LeBron James who looks hungrier than ever to win the Larry O’Brien trophy.

On Tuesday during the Lakers’ Media Day, Johnson praised LeBron for being in “excellent physical condition.” He then went on to warn the rest of the league that they should be wary of James, who is not only “focused” and “driven,” but also “on a mission” to lead the Purple and Gold to the promised land.

Magic Johnson is not wrong, though. As Lakers GM Rob Pelinka also noted recently, LeBron James has made it a point to be slimmer entering the 2021-22 season. With that, he expects to see the King be more explosive and faster.

“We all know LeBron studies the greats and he adds things into his game. I think going into this stage of his career he’s made a decision to come back a little bit leaner and I think that’s going to translate in his explosiveness and quickness. But he’s been very locked in with his training,” Pelinka shared.

At 36 years old, LeBron has shown signs of father time catching up to him–the frequency of his injuries in the past three seasons with the Lakers is one proof. However, if what Johnson and Pelinka said is true, then fans might see a revitalized James in 2021-22.

The longer offseason, after a shortened one in 2020, should also be beneficial to LeBron and the Lakers as they try to return to the NBA Finals and lift the championship trophy. As early as now, though, Magic is warning the league of what he believes will be ineviatable.
